About Giving Machines

#LightTheWorld Giving Machines are special red vending machines put up during the Christmas season where donors can purchase goods for those in need around the world, such as clothing for children or livestock such as a goat for a family.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sponsors the operating costs of the Giving Machines, so 100% of donations go to local or worldwide charities to provide for the less fortunate.

San Antonio Giving Machine Charities

They serve over 105,000 individuals each week. Their focus is for clients to have food for today but to also have the resources to be self-sufficient in the future.

They strive to improve the quality of life for survivors of acquired brain injury (ABI) and their families/caretakers and reintegrate them into family and community.

Men and women selflessly serve our nation, while working for little pay, putting their lives on the line, and dealing with the secondary affects that can tear families apart. WISH for OUR HEROES is dedicated to providing resources to the “average” active-duty military member, in order to make their deployments a little easier, and to improve the quality of their family lives while home or during deployment.

The priority is to always grant basic needs or emergencies first – anything from putting food on the table to assisting with car repairs, home repairs, baby supplies, clothing, etc. When basic needs are met, W4OH also enjoys providing fun things like sending the troops to athletic events, sending them on vacation to get re-acquainted after deployments, meeting celebrities, and more.

Vibrant Works (formerly Lighthouse for the Blind) champions the right of people who are blind or vision impaired to have equal opportunities and support towards meaningful careers and independent lives.

“The mission of Catholic Charities is to provide for the needs of our community through selfless service under the sign of love.” Catholic Charities is a nonprofit organization that helps people in need with food, shelter, education, immigration, and more.

Insert a credit or debit card and select one or more items from the vending machine. A Styrofoam card with a photo of the item you have purchased will drop to the bottom of the machine, signifying the purchase you have made.

The Giving Machines accept all major U.S. credit cards and debit cards – just like a regular vending machine. They can accept credit cards via tap or swipe (chip readers do not work) and mobile payments (Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc.). However, it does not accept cash.

At a Light the World Giving Machine, all of your donation – 100% – reaches the people served. Overhead costs for the machines, credit card fees, and the administrative fees for the designated charity are covered by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Since 2017, $32 million has been donated through #LightTheWorld Giving Machines.

You and your family and friends get to actually see and choose what to give. Take a selfie while you’re there and share it with your friends and family as you help #LightTheWorld!
